From our humble beginnings as a building supplies business in South East England in the early 1920s, Mabey Hire has evolved through decades of innovation to transform Britain’s landscape. Following the Second World War, we pioneered advancements in bridging and groundworks solutions. Today, we continue our legacy as a leading temporary works supplier while inspiring future generations.
Innovations that shaped our journey
1970
Launch of the first trench box – the Mabey Strongbox.
We launched the world’s first steel soldier system and the first British-made steel trench box.
1992
Launch of BeamBridge.
We launched the pre-assembled, ready to lift in temporary bridging solution, BeamBridge.
2012
Supershaft Plus launched.
We launched our largest bracing system, designed for high-capacity excavations.
2015
Enviroguard developed and launched.
We launched our bespoke, all-in-one environmental monitoring solution.
2016
Structural monitoring solutions launched.
We launched our structural monitoring offering to help customers manage risk and improve site safety.
2017
STEM Education Programme launches.
Driven by our engineering roots, we developed a STEM programme to spark interest in the engineers of tomorrow.
2020
Launch of our standard solutions, MyConstruct.
Giving customers quick access to standard temporary works designs, cutting turnaround times and saving time and money.
2020
Immersive technology launched.
EVE uses immersive tech to let customers explore their project and identify risks ahead of time.
2023
Taking responsible action.
We launched our ESG strategy to protect the planet, support people, and reach Net Zero by 2035.

SBS1200 system launched.
We designed and built our largest proprietary strut, designed for high-capacity propping.

Embodied carbon calculations launched.
