Marking the latest addition to our groundworks support portfolio, the new MAP Box is a lightweight, modular trench support system, which can be used to create 2, 3 or 4-sided trench supports, for use in shallow shoring applications with self-supporting ground.
Offering both simplicity and flexibility, the modular nature of the MAP Box makes it suitable for a variety of site and project requirements, with the components able to form a range of box sizes, from a 1.3m x 0.6m 2-sided trench box to a 2.5m x 2.5m 4-sided manhole box.
Its posts have been designed with holes every 100mm, providing customers with the flexibility to choose their strut position – especially ideal for the utility market. This allows for greater under-strut clearance, allowing for large diameter pipes, for example. Alternatively, customers can opt for a lower under-strut clearance, offering increased load capacity.
What’s more, MAP Box allows the user to simply omit panels from the box to allow existing services through.
Speaking about the launch, Dave Holland, Monitoring and Technical Director, said: “We’re really excited to introduce our latest solution to the market. It’s been developed by our engineering team and in collaboration with our customers, ensuring that we can deliver a product that really works for them. By working collaboratively with our customers, I’m pleased to say that we have succeeded in developing the most lightweight and flexible trench box on the UK market.
“As well as its modular capabilities, our MAP box components also weigh significantly less than the market alternatives. In fact, fully assembled, it can weigh up to 35% less than other modular lightweight boxes available. This is great news for our customers, with the equipment being both easy to handle and install with minimal lifting equipment required.”
The new MAP Box panels feature a finger-grip design for better, safer handling and the overall system is compatible with our existing edge protection solutions, providing our groundworks customers with a complete offering to keep their trenches and workers safe.
