Proud to be appointed to new Network Rail monitoring framework

Part of a new pilot scheme by Network Rail, we are one of two monitoring providers to be included in a rail framework for the North West and Central (NW&C) regions.

Network Rail is trialling the new framework in the NW&C regions to help streamline data flows between monitoring providers and CP7 contractors. Feedback on the current system revealed various complexities and silos preventing the true value of the data to be realised. Under the new proposed scheme, framework members will therefore work in direct partnership with Network Rail, simplifying the communication of data and settling on a standardised process.

With five companies originally tendering to be a part of the framework, we were one of two selected to take part in the pilot scheme, which lasts three years. As part of this, candidates had to be a RISQS verified contractor, ensuring they are qualified to safely execute works. The scheme will cover both non-emergency and emergency works, where monitoring is required to examine the condition of various Network Rail assets, including bridges, tunnels, embankments and tracks.

Gareth Richards, Monitoring Director from Mabey Hire commented: “We’re extremely proud to have been appointed as part of this framework, working closely with Network Rail to provide our structural and geotechnical monitoring solutions and expertise on projects across the North West and Central regions.

“Across our 60 years of engineering experience, we’ve supported countless customers on their rail projects through the supply of our temporary works equipment and monitoring technologies. Whether it’s routine track maintenance or major infrastructure upgrade projects, our monitoring solutions can facilitate the efficient delivery of these works, reducing safety risks, project costs and complexities, all while minimising disruption to the wider network.”

As a monitoring specialist, we offer a range of structural and environmental monitoring systems for hire, which can be designed and built specifically to project requirements. Within the rail sector, common applications include railway track monitoring, slope stability and bridge structural health, with all data being fed into our unique Insite web portal for easy analysis and review.
